Gratulasjonsbrev til statsministeren i Japan
Brev | Dato: 03.10.2024 | Statsministerens kontor
Statsminister Jonas Gahr Støres gratulasjonsbrev til Japans statsminister Shigeru Ishiba.
Dear Mr Ishiba
I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister of Japan.
Norway and Japan enjoy excellent bilateral relations, and share a commitment to fundamental values such as democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Next year our countries will celebrate 120 years of diplomatic relations.
During my visit to Tokyo last December our two countries issued a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership. It underlined the importance we attach to continuing to develop our bilateral relationship, and the many areas where our interests align.
Norway and Japan have a long history of trade and business. With many of our companies working together at the forefront of technology and innovation, we look forward to deepening our cooperation to accelerate the green industrial transition, and to participating at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
I would also highlight our cooperation in the areas of security policy and defence, which was significantly strengthened during the visit of Norway’s Minister of Defence to Japan in September.
I look forward to our continued cooperation, and wish you every success with the important tasks that lie ahead.
Yours sincerely
Jonas Gahr Støre
