Research is central to the development of a sustainable society, where knowledge is the key to new, green and profitable jobs, and a better and more efficient public sector.
Research cooperation
Increasingly, research is being carried out in cooperation across national borders, and a growing proportion of resources for research are being distributed in international competitive arenas.
Research Ethics
Academic freedom is a fundamental principle of research and is an important condition for ensuring independent and reliable research. At the same time, the credibility of research depends on us being ability to trust the researchers. Ethics in research is thus so important.
Science prizes
A number of international research prizes are awarded in Norway to honour outstanding scientific contributions and to stimulate interest in research among the general public.
