Norway is working for a close and committed international cooperation to address transboundary forest policy challenges, and to ensure sustainable management of forests worldwide.
Consequently, for several years Norway has participated actively in UN work on sustainable forest management. The work is organized through the UN Forestry Forum (UNFF), established in 2000. UNFF shall contribute to the development of practical politics, as well as working for a common global understanding of what sustainable forest management entails.
In Europe, Forest Europe (Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe) has been the most important forest policy coordinating body for decades.
