Forestry
The potential for increased value creation is large.Forestry policy must facilitate sustainable resource management, where harvesting does not exceed the regrowth rate, and take into account other essential functions of forests - as wildlife habitat, recreational arena for people, and as storage and sinks of carbon.
Use of wood
Wood is a renewable and climate friendly raw material that is increasingly in demand. It is a goal to increase the use of wood to replace materials with a more detrimental impact on the climate.
Hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation
The outback is by age-old tradition very important also as a recreation arena in Norway, where a sizeable segment of the population go to enjoy hunting, fishing and trekking. These values, too, are promoted under the stewardship of sustainable forestry.
