Cash benefit for parents of infants
Article | Last updated: 09/02/2021 | Ministry of Children and Families
Families with children aged between one and two years who do not attend a kindergarten may receive a cash benefit.
The condition for receiving the cash benefit for parents of infants is that the child does not have a place in a kindergarten that receives a public operating subsidy, or only has a part-time place. If the child has a part-time place in such a kindergarten, the parents may receive a reduced cash benefit.
The cash benefit is intended to help families to have more time to care for their own children and for families to have a real choice regarding the care of their children.
The cash benefit is per child with no means or needs testing. It is tax-free.
The scheme to provide a cash benefit for parents of infants is managed by the Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV). More information can be found on the Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) website.
