Here is the statement on the announced funding against sexual and gender-based violence in humanitarian crises.
On 24 May 2019 in Oslo, 21 donors announced a total of US$363 million at the Ending Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Humanitarian Crises Conference. This amount includes funding for the UN, ICRC / IFRC, NGO and Civil Society mechanisms that provide resources for SGBV coordination and risk mitigation strategies; SGBV preparedness measures including contingency and preparedness planning; SGBV-dedicated programmes in inter-agency plans; funding for establishing life-saving SGBV response and services at the onset of an emergency; and strengthening frontline service providers, especially local actors/organizations and women’s groups, to enhance the quality of care and to mitigate risks.
This funding is in addition to the unearmarked or core funding to humanitarian partners who work to prevent and respond to SGBV, to the Central Emergency Response Fund and to country-based pooled funds.
