Demand for the Norwegian State Housing Bank’s loan schemes has been substantial in 2010. “An additional NOK 15 billion will be available next year,” says Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Liv Signe Navarsete.
Starting loans for young people and the disadvantaged have increased particularly. More loans have also been given to kindergartens than expected. As a consequence, the Norwegian State Housing Bank is unable to advance any further loans for new building this year. Nevertheless, the Housing Bank will continue to process applications that come in and will grant new loans in 2011, when a further NOK 15 billion will be made available.
The Housing Bank enjoys a good dialogue with the building industry, which means that postponement will not lead to negative consequences for the building market.
“With NOK 15 billion available for loans, we expect activity to continue to be high in 2011,” says Navarsete.
