The Government wants to create the right conditions to increase the number of people actively using the Sami languages. This will be done through measures which aim to boost the instruction of Sami in kindergartens, primary and secondary education and training.
The Government wants to create the right conditions to increase the number of people actively using the Sami languages. This will be done through measures which aim to boost the instruction of Sami in kindergartens, primary and secondary education and training.
The Plan of Action is divided into three themes:
LEARN: Strengthen the teaching of Sami languages in kindergartens and schools, increase the recruitment to education in Sami languages and improve parents and other grown-ups possibilities to learn Sami languages.
USE: Increase public sector services in Sami, among other factors by strengthen the expertise on Sami languages and culture in the public sector, increase the amount of information in Sami for Sami users and develop language technology and Sami spelling tools.
SEE: Make Sami languages visible in the public sphere through media, culture and use of Sami place-names.
