Section for Services and Tourism
The section is responsible for economic policy related to the service industries. The service industries include, among others, the tourism industry, the retail industry, the hospitality industry, business services, and cultural and creative industries.
The tourism industry comprises businesses in the fields of transportation, hospitality, accommodation, experiences, and communication. The section is responsible for developing a sustainable tourism policy and measures related to Innovation Norway’s tourism mission and Visit Svalbard. The retail industry serves as the link between consumers and producers, and it can set the framework for a more circular and sustainable production of goods and services. Additionally, the section has coordination and development responsibilities within the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Fisheries (NFD) for work related to the circular economy.
