The Department works to ensure an efficient and coordinated management of the Ministry. This includes providing support to the political leadership and the Secretary General in their work, develop and maintain guidelines for the overall management of the Ministry, carrying out joint responsibilities for the Ministry, and supporting the other departments in the Ministry in their work.
The Department has an important role in recruiting personnel, and ensure that the Ministry is an attractive place to work - to both attract and develop the competence we need.
The main goal for the Department is to be a progressive administrative secretariat for the leadership of the Ministry, that ensures that our tasks are carried out efficiently and within the values and rules that guide our public service.
The Department has six sub-goals, all tied to critical processes, deliveries and services that are necessary to achieve our main goal:
- Good coordination within the Ministry.
- Efficient administration of the ministerial work.
- Good systems for recruitment, development of competence and management of personnel.
- Professional support and good systems for management and leadership, and for economy.
- An efficient process for the state budget, that provides an adequate background for decisionmaking, for the leadership of the Ministry.
- An adequate level of security and crisis preparedness.
The Department is divided into two sections:
- The Section for Economy.
- The Section for Organisation and Security.
The Section for Economy work with the state budget and the central government accounts, furthermore management and budget for the Ministry, grants and acquisitions.
The Section for Organisation and Security coordinate undertakings and proposals that are presented to the Ministry, furthermore planning related to our responsibilites, management of offices and equipement, security and preparedness for crisis. Additionally the management of personnel and strategical development in the area is part of the responsibilities.
