Department of Crime Prevention
The Department of Crime Prevention (AKF) plays a key role in the development of criminal policy, with responsibility for developing knowledge about crime trends and the challenges they pose for the criminal justice chain and the sector in general.
The Department of Crime Prevention is responsible for the execution of sentences, i.e. management of the Norwegian Correctional Service and the National Mediation Service, including budget, regulatory provisions (the Execution of Sentences Act and the National Mediation Service Act) and long-term planning.
Knowledge about crime includes the extent of crime, trends and factors that affect crime in the short and long term, and what works to prevent and combat crime.
