Departments
The Ministry of Health and Care Services has nine departments:

- The Department of Budgetary and Agency Governance

The Departement of Administration
The Department of Administration is responsible for joint tasks and coordination within the Ministry of Health and Care Services and contributes to the Ministry working in accordance with key objectives and guidelines for the public administration.

The Department of Budgetary Affairs and Agency Governance
The Departement of Budgetary Affairs and Agency Governance coordinates the Ministry of Health and Care Services' work relating to the National Budget and budget proposals throughout the year.

The Department of Digitalisation
The Department of Digitalisation has the overall responsibility for the coordination of the work on digitalisation of the healthcare sector. Digitalisation is a key tool for improving efficiency and further developing the health and care services and for achieving more efficient use of public resources.

The Department of Hospital Ownership
The Ministry of Health and Care Services manages the ownership of the regional health authorities and the Norwegian Health Network (Norsk helsenett SF) and the Department’s principal task is to safeguard the governance thereof.

The Department of Public Health
The main tasks of the Department of Public Health relate to health promotion and preventive efforts at the population level, as well as health analyses.

The Department of Health Legislation
The Department of Health Legislation is responsible for the majority of acts and regulations within the domain of the Ministry of Health and Care Services.

The Department of Municipal Health Care Services
The Department of Municipal Healthcare Services (MHS) has the primary responsibility for the central government’s policies relating to the municipal health and care services set out in the Act relating to municipal health and care services and the Dental Health Services Act.

The Department of Specialist Health Care Services
Further development of the specialist healthcare services and pharmaceutical policies are the primary tasks of the Department, with a special focus on quality and availability, as well as the consequences of demographic and medical developments in society.

The Communications Division
The Communications Division is responsible for the Ministry’s communications strategy, media management and crisis communication. The Division is also responsible for the Ministry’s website and social media channels.
