Norway bids to host Internet Governance Forum 2025

The Norwegian government announced today its bid to host the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in 2025. The IGF is a global platform for multistakeholder discussions on internet governance and policy. Norway aims to unite the international community to foster inclusive and meaningful conversations on key internet-related issues.
- Norway has a thriving digital ecosystem with a strong focus on innovation and technological advancements, among other based on an open, inclusive, and transparent Internet. Internet governance discussions are vital for close international cooperation on the function of the Internet as a more secure, free, and open internet for all. The Internet makes us all closer and more connected, and Norway is committed to lift the small state perspective in these regards, says Sigbjørn Gjelsvik, Minister of Local Government and Regional Development.
If it succeeds in its bid, Norway will commit to organizing a well-planned and inclusive IGF that promotes diversity, inclusiveness, and transparency. The IGF 2025 in Norway would offer a valuable platform for participants to exchange ideas, share best practices, and develop shared solutions to the complex challenges of the digital era.
