Norway sending bridges to Ukraine

‘Russia’s cynical warfare has destroyed key parts of Ukraine’s infrastructure. Without a functional road network, it is not possible for Ukraine to deliver food, water and medical supplies where they are needed, or transport wounded Ukrainians to hospital,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Anniken Huitfeldt.
‘We know that these bridges will be of great use to Ukraine, and this will in no way reduce our ability to meet our own need for emergency bridges,’ said Minister of Transport Jon-Ivar Nygård.
The lorries that departed from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s bridge depot in Bjørkelangen today are the first of a total of 32 lorries that will be transporting 10 bridge sets from Norway to Ukraine. Both the Foreign Minister and the Minister of Transport were on site to see the lorries depart.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is providing the bridges, which have a combined value of NOK 30 million. The delivery is being financed under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ humanitarian budget.
